Friday...

end of the week...

And end of the month!
July is leaving San Clemente without giving us
even one day of real California warmth,
not even one real beach day!

We now sit and hope that August will be a little more generous...

Have a creative weekend full of color, glitter and hopefully...sun!!

White Wednesday

"A self portrait without using a portrait"

48 squares
1.5 in. X 1.5 in. each
No faces allowed.

That was our homework assignment last week.

How to let people know about me,
and what I like?

How to let people know
what inspires me
and what makes me feel alive?

48 squares.

Each one a little piece of my home.
A little piece of the place
where I am what I always wanted to be:

a wife and a mom.

I got those two right...
the rest is only gravy!

"Life is the sum of all your choices"
~Albert Camus~

Now I'm off to enjoy White Wednesday!

Tante Grazie!

The name of her blog "Italian Girl in Georgia" brought me in...

her warmth and talent kept me going back...

And today I received my very own Suzanne MacCrone original...

"Peaches and Painted Tulips"...

an explosion of color
so vibrant,
so happy,
so Suzanne...

She doesn't know this, but one of my favorite Italian memories
involves the best peaches I ate in my live.
Sweet peaches,
eaten by the sea at Cinque Terre.

One moment in my life that I want to repeat some day.

Until then,
Suzanne's photograph will take me back to that moment,
back to that place

Tante grazie, cara!

Little finds...

A quick run through Country Roads to check on my space this morning,
surprised me with some little finds
Little...very little...

Vintage metal tulips...

sweet pink binding...

metal findings with flowers and leaves shapes...

I bought them without knowing why.

I figured the why while driving home:
because they are a good break from the very precise
and time consuming work I've been doing in class.

My little finds will allow me to create something a lot looser,
a lot less planned, a lot messier, a lot more me!

Hope is also something worth showing,
but that's yet to be seen!

Have a happy and creative weekend!

White Wednesday

This "I-need-help" thingy I found for $5.00
is all I've been able to transform lately...

Paint...
Metal numbers...
New wooden knobs...

In the garage.
Quick fixing.
Out of the garage.
Into my space.

Simple.
Immediate gratification.

The kind of project I need for the next 4 weeks,
when my Graphic Design class ends.

Because....
Homework is killing me!!!

But... don't let my kids know it,
I'll never admit it to them!!!
LOL!!!

Happy White Wednesday!!

waiting for inspiration to hit me...

White Wednesday

The bad weather and the chilly nights we've been having
have kept me from working with anything summery or beachy...

Surprisingly, even though is July already, I found inspiration in a sweater...

A $1.00 Salvation Army sweater.

The sleeves gave my little lampshades a whole new look...

The bottom, was used to cover a tomatoes can...

Burlap, stamps...
Pencil holder, anyone?

All of this with a $1.00 sweater and I still have the front and the back to work with!

I would love to know how to knit but until I learn how to,
I just cheat!!!

Thank you Kathleen for hosting White Wednesday!!!

Argentinian Passion

Husband was planning a big soccer celebration:
Argentina 2010 Soccer World Champions!

The German Team changed his plans.
Husband still is in "Soccer Suicidal Watch"

I hope he can snap out of it by tonight...

so we can celebrate Argentina's Independence Day.

On July 4th, our homes are dressed in Red, White and Blue.

On July 9th, they wear their best White and Light Blue, the Argentinian colors.

I'm hoping for some good empanadas tonight for a true
Argentinian Celebration!

Yumm!!!

White Wednesday

"From France with Amour"

Don't you miss getting letters in the mail?

Hand written letters.
Beautiful, curvy writing, just waiting to be read....

French Writing.
That was my inspiration to make this little metal table top...

into something a little more special...

Tres chic...or not tres chic????

Oui, oui!! Tres chic!!!

Lots of wonderful whites at Faded Charm...
don't miss them!!!

Happy 4th!

Splashes of Red, White and Blue have made their way into my home.

My loved 48-star flag is waving proudly...

It must be the 4th...

Mirror, mirror...

without a wall...

Which one is the coolest
centerpiece of all?

MINE!

Came home from Country Roads with an old,
beat up to perfection,
chippy mirror...

The idea was to use it to try a new technique,
but I felt in love with it
and since my house has very few walls and they already have enough stuff,
I had to find another place for my new friend...

So here it is, adding a little light to my farm table...

This is the first goodie I bought in over 1 year and that I will actually keep...
how's that for self control??
