Taking it easy...

This is an extra long weekend...

Kids don't have school on Friday...

or Monday....

or Tuesday...

and for some reason
my brain thinks that the extra long weekend should start today.
I'll not fight it.

I need to save every ounce of energy today because this weekend I need to go Prom Dress shopping with my beautiful 16 year old...
not an easy task...
but I'll survive no matter what!

White Wednesday

My romance with paper continued for a couple of days last week when I found some plain journals waiting for a makeover.

I used some of my favorite elements:
vintage photos, ribbons ,

buttons, antique lace...

I arranged them, glued and sewed...

until they were ready to record someone's intimate thoughts...

And then, I started to wonder...
do people write journals these days?
or
are all our intimate thoughts kept in some program inside our computer?

Just because...

Yesterday it took me a little while to make something.

I didn't want to paint because I was having a Good Hair Day...
(in case this doesn't make sense to you, let me explain that every time I paint, I end up with paint on my hair!!)

I couldn't sew...
my machine was acting up and I just couldn't figure it out.

But I really wanted to make something!

Reached for papers, scissors, glitter and came up with these...

Let's be honest...
They are totally useless...

but they make me happy!

Their only function in life, it's just being...

here....

there...

and everywhere...!

And I think that's a good enough reason to make some more!

White Wednesday

Is it Tuesday night already???
It can't be!

I'm glad I've been playing with white so I have something to share today!

I don't know if it was the sweet aroma of lavender...

or the fact that they were so easy and fun to make,

but....

what started with one lonely sachet,

became a whole bunch of lavender sachets!

I love when my OCCD (Obsesive Compulsive Crafting Disorder) kicks in!!

Never too late...

I don't make New Year's Resolutions because it usually takes me about 3 days to break them.

But this year was different.
I knew that 2010 was going to be a year of changes for me and my family.
A year of big plans.
A year of goals waiting to be achieved.

So when the New Year rolled along, I made a mental list of the things I needed to accomplish...
(I was very careful: never called them Resolutions!)...
and started working very hard at them.
Last Friday, I did something that I never thought possible: I registered for a College Class.

My Graphic Design class starts in July and at the end of 8 weeks, I should be able to move it from my To Do List to my Accomplished List
You see? Even though I went to College, I studied and I graduated, I never liked school.

To fill out the Registration Form was a big step for me and the thought of being in a class full of 20 Year-Olds, a little intimidating, but I'm going for it!
If you think about it, going back at almost 50 has a good side:
at least now I won't spend 3 hours every morning thinking what to wear to school like I did 30 years ago and that alone, it's pretty liberating...
Hey, there are good things about being "vintage"!...LOL!!!

A little bragging...

As many of you probably know, the amazing Rachel Ashwell visited Country Roads last weekend...

I was excited when I read about the visit in Sue's blog, but I was really excited when on Monday I realized that the customer that bought all my transferware pieces and the pink cupboard that
lived for years in my laundry room was her...

the one and only Rachel Ashwell!!

Wow!
Rachel and I...
A match made in Junking Heaven
(....If she only knew that I exist!!!)

LOL!!!

Thank you Rachel and thank you Sue!

Reasons to blog...

Someone asked me not long ago why I blog...

That's easy to answer...

Because it inspires me.

Because it helps me to look at objects from a different angle.

Because it has pushed me to learn and try new techniques.

Because it has allowed me to connect with a lot of creative people.

And of course...
because blogging is fun and addictive!!

Happy Mother's Day!

"Grown don't mean nothing to a mother.
A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown?

What's that suppose to mean?...

In my heart it don't mean a thing"

Time for Roses...

My weekly visit to the garage yield some cupboard doors that I can not recall acquiring...
No, I'm not trying to deny my compulsive junking...
I just can't remember!

But the fact that I don't know their past....

it does not mean

that I can't change their future...

Thank you Roze for the beautiful prints!

White Wednesday

Some things...

live inside old drawers...

and dusty boxes...

for a very long time.

Until one day,

they find each other....

and you realize

that they are

meant to be together.
