Lighting up our day...

Many times we have said that we love quick, easy projects.

This one was anything but.

Projects that involve electricity are not fun, or easy or quick for us.
Basically because when we work with wires, we have to think about it, focus and follow precise directions...yikes!

We knew that this floor lamp had potential:
TOP:

BOTTOM:

but to take it to a wonderful place of goodness we had to replace that glass shade for something more like this:

That's when the no-fun part started....

To replace this little part:

we screwed and unscrewed,
we tied and untied,
we put in and took off,
we screamed,
and even used some colorful Spanish words that we had not used in some time...
...until finally these 2 were in the right place...

After a much needed shower and coffee to recup, we moved to the fun part:
the vintage lampshade transformation....
burlap, lace and killer rhinestones buckle....

We are glad we didn't give up.
It took us about 5 tries (that felt like 50) to get those wires right but look at this beauty now....

Just in case you are wondering...
it even works!!!

I have always loved to rewire lamps. I take them apart use parts off one and put on another. replace the cords and shades. It is a chore sometimes when you get it all together and see you forgot something.. Back apart you go.. It turned out wonderful, glad you did not give up.. Love it.

Being a lampshade maker, I'm totally diggin' your creations. I've been playing with stencils on my shades of late...is it possible to have too much fun???

What a great idea to repurpose a lamp. Scrolling down I especially like your candle redo. So pretty. Thanks for the comment about the napkins.

I am so in love with that lamp shade! I love the rhinestone pin, too. My mom had shoe buckles similar to that from the 50's that she gave me, and now I know exactly what to do with them!

The lamp looks just great! It has such a vintage/layered look but at the same time is so sleek. Great combo. And I laughed when I read the quote at the bottom about 'if at first you don't succeed'... too funny girls!

I love this post except it reminds me of a lamp in my family room that needs repair. Argh! Guess I should go do that.:-)
