Christmas Eve is always a very exciting and long day for us. Throughout the years, we have kept our Argentinian tradition of opening gifts at Midnight, something that our kids always appreciated: no need to wait until Christmas morning to be surprised!
This year, Christmas Eve Dinner was at Clara's.
The house really glowed!
Candles, glitter and twinkle lights lent the perfect atmosphere to a special night...
At the dinner table, each one of us received a little Christmas ornament.

Candles, glitter and twinkle lights lent the perfect atmosphere to a special night...
At the dinner table, each one of us received a little Christmas ornament.
Before the food was served, Clara asked us to write on a little piece of paper she had prepared, our wishes for 2010.
Some shared their thoughts: health, work and love were popular...some other wishes were secret...
Finally, each one of us rolled the little piece of paper keeping our most precious thoughts and pushed them inside the little ornament.

Our little Christmas balls became our own time capsule!
Next year, on Christmas Eve will open them up...will our wishes change?...will our wishes come true?
Only time will tell.

What a wonderful tradition!
I feel like big 'ole fat toad right now because I have eaten too much over the holidays....ughhhh! We still have too many sweets around so I am taking them over to the neighbors house for their kids today!
Love to you and Clara,
LuLu~*xoxo
What a sweet idea! I'd love to do something like that, but don't think it would go over very well with my good ol' boy, redneck bunch. :-)
What a fabulous idea! This Thanksgiving we all shared with each other what we were thankful for. At our next family dinner, my little one asked us all again "what are you thankful for"? Like, don't forget! It was adorable and I hope to keep it going because we constantly have a lot to be thankful for.

I LOVE that idea, and just may have to "borrow" it next year. I think if anything has come out of this past year, it is valuing the "small stuff" and appreciating that and the people in our lives! I'm looking forward to the New Year, and am also very grateful YOU have become a part of MY Country Roads family! Take care.
Hello girls, It sound like Christmas Eve was great at your place Clara. What a wonderful idea with the ornaments!!!Won't it be fun to review the wishes next year?!
Wishing you a lovely week my friends.
hugs

Love your post! We used to do something very similar..We would all pick out a different Polish or Hungarian (or the lucky German PICKLE) Ornament and place it behind each chair.. so each year we all gained an extra something special of our heritage...
Loved seeing someone else doing something meaningful like this..
Smiles...

Super sweet idea and a cool tradition... I like the whole Argentina tradition of gift opening... why not it is Christmas at midnight right? I sure hope you had a great holiday and maybe I will see you at the Barn AKA La Maison Rustique. Happy New Year to you and your family.
