White Wednesday Project

Boring...is not always bad because it gives you the opportunity to put a spin on it and make it...if you are lucky...a little more interesting.

Remember the boring box we found while junking?

Nice wooden box, oak to be more precise...
Easy surface to transform...
Perfect size for jewelry or secrets...
Affordable, we only paid $4.00 (although after visiting other sites and reading how little you girls pay for your treasures in some other parts of the country, everything sounds expensive to us!!!)

Old white paint came to the rescue once more...and with the help of old hardware, the little wooden box got a whole new look....

Some stain later, distressing and she got a little extra charm....

some vintage music sheet in the inside finished it all off!

Simple transformation, easy project...great satisfaction!

Now go and look for a blank canvas where to express yourself...
and if you need more white inspiration, visit:
Faded Charm, you won't be disappointed!

Why not?

An old, shabby, very weathered door found in a junk pile

became the perfect background for a glamorous candelabra...

and its gorgeous crystals...

Opposites once again attract
and look good while doing it!

Follow no rules, only your instincts
A little unexpected goes a long way...

Junkin' Monday #13

Happy Monday, Ladies!

We still have some left overs from our Temecula extravaganza to share with you today!

How cute is this vintage clock???

Let us answer that: VERY CUTE!!
He will be our Dad's clock companion at Clara's house.
We can "see" a collection forming...Yeah! more hunting to do!!

The second treasure today has all the characteristics of a fave: rusty...

chippy....

white...

Perfect to hold silverware in a buffet table...
napkins will keep the silverware away from the rust!

Talking about irresistible rust...

another pretty for Clara to keep:

Metal base with glass top little table...little enough to be used as a pedestal on a big table.
Great display piece!

And finally a piece that really makes justice to the Junkin' tittle of this post...
A hoosier top that we found in a pile of junk

It was missing the sides, and the back needed some real help...
But, hey! nobody's perfect!

We added the sides and covered the bad back paint job using 1910 German catalog pages and added it to our Country Roads space.

Recycle, Redo and Reuse, that's the name of the game!

Would you like to play?
Add your link and share...it will be fun!!

Next Monday, November 30th, there will be no Junkin' Monday, sorry.
This whole week will be dedicated to shopping, cooking and spending family time in celebration of Thanksgiving Day so the Sisters will have no time for Junk!!

Show love...

It took us a long, long time to start doing shows...in reality, it took Sister Extraordinaire a long, long time to convince me to do shows.
Let's be realistic, it's not easy.
All the loading, unloading, set up, packing up, load and unload again are not in our fave's list, but we did it once and had fun...
...so we did it again, and it was easier and funner...

and now, we love the monthly La Maison Rustique Show.

We not only get to sell our pretties...

we also get to spend the day with some super creative women...

Women that just like us need to create and stay busy...
that have a passion and follow it.
Women that share and inspire us.

Women that love vintage, recycling and a little bit of glam...

Yes, it's hard work but every trip to Temecula provides us with a whole new creative energy that keeps us going, and going and going!

It also provides with a truck full of projects...because we never leave La Maison without bringing home some poor pieces in need of some TLC!
We will be showing some of those projects this coming week, so make sure you come back and take a look around...we really hope to inspire you!

The road to our new adventure...

The first time we visited Country Roads about eight years ago, we thought we had died and gone to Shabby Heaven...
Full of wonderful architectural pieces, 2DIE4 white chippy furniture, out of this world displays and tons of rusted to perfection garden furniture, Sue's store became right away our favorite place to shop .

With time, we fantasied with the idea of having a space there but it seemed like it was never the right time...
busy with our own store...
not the right space available...
not enough merchandise...
the economy sucks....
you know, just life!

But a few weeks back, we decided: no more excuses and let's give it a try...
We are going for a farm-chic look...

a little bit of country...

a little bit of gold...

some altered pieces....

lots of vintage findings ....

and our favorite whites!

It's a small space, but we hope to make it big in charm...

stop by and visit our new adventure...

Ask for Space #135 and the cool girls from Country Roads will show you the way!

We hope this is a white enough post, because today is White Wednesday!

Junkin' Monday #12

We are back!

Friday was fun!!...we spent it with all the talented girls from La Maison Rustique in Temecula. The barn looked better than ever...the displays were over the top...(pictures coming soon) customers were happy and most of them walked away with treasures.

Of course we were not only satisfied sellers but also very happy customers...

Here are just some of our finds...

A very cute (to me) and very creepy (to Clara) composition doll head...(someone added a plastic body that will have to go, sorry dolly)

To be honest....she is a little creepy, but I couldn't resist her.
She was only $5.00 and she needed a good home...

Another thing we couldn't resist was this folding child's chair...red and chippy...old and sweet!!

A collection of 6 books...dated 1897...charming!!

Another clock face...we were looking for a big one this time and we found it: this one is about 12" round...and was only $3.00!

6 of the most amazing crystals we have even seen!
Talking about size...these vintage beauties measure 6" long each!...perfect canvas for some gorgeous ornaments!

We also found some vintage tulle, ribbon and lace...

Lots of vintage bottles to alter....

a shabby, peely mail box that we plan to use in a Christmas vignette...

And a lot more but you will have to wait a couple of days to see it all!

If you are wondering why we are shopping so much, come back tomorrow and we might have an explanation for you, but lets just say that our reason includes
a "road" to something new and hopefully wonderful!

But in the meantime...show us...what have you brought home this week?

Even Lil Creepy is curious!!
