Junking Monday #14

We started the New Year the best way possible...Junking!

and junking in a Oh so chic! frame of mind.
Check it out...

We found 2 antique mirrors, one with original gold paint distressed to perfection...

and the second one with killer carvings.
We will distress the white paint someone added, and we'll reveal the gold underneath...

A 1920's drum lampshade with original silk.
We have plans for this beauty: burlap and jewelry will make it irresistible!

Talking about irresistible...
Sweet vanity bench in need of a new seat cover. Easy enough!

Wonderful black lettering on this large canvas mail bag

and stunning leather closures with perfect vintage appeal...a nice conversation piece....

The next 2 pictures show the smalls we brought home.
A beautiful ivory hand mirror...
pearls and some vintage baubles...
a metal rose picked for texture...
a small goldish frame
and a little girl screaming for a crown and a Valentine sash maybe?

If this is a sign of how the rest of the year will be, we are excited for 2010...
Some vintage charm, easy projects, a touch of whimsy and lots of glam...!

If you have found some goodies and would like to share...link up...
We would love to stop by and admire your beauties!

Junkin' Monday #14

After 2 weeks of not Junkin' not even the cold weather was able to keep us away from the Flea Market!
We found some great stuff this time but we are sharing only a few because we didn't have enough time to photograph the rest before it got dark...sorry!

Our first treasure is an antique jewelry box in need of some serious TLC...

The trim around the edges was broken and it needed a good cleaning, but look at the amazing tray inside...and the cute little mirror!!

We love the hardware...

We added new-old trim and a crocheted piece with a vintage bling topping it all off...
It will be hard to let this one go!

Our second find came from the same booth, a wonderful and very interesting Italian sconce...

Metal and wood with beautiful original paint and the most perfect patina...

Don't you just love the colors?...We sure do!
Wired and ready to be enjoyed...

Our final treasure, a gilded floral lamp...
The base was exactly what we were looking for: a little shabby, a little glamorous...

...but the lampshade was a little too predictable.
In order to achieve the new look we are going for, we came up with something a little more unexpected...we got rid of the simple white satin cover and we dressed the lampshade "skeleton" with burlap, vintage lace and a fab vintage brooch with rhinestones...

Now is totally ready to be adopted by a good family...

Today's picks will help us add a little glam to our new Country Roads space!

Wondering what else we got?...You'll have to come back in a couple of days and take another peek...
Now, how about if YOU show US your new treasures?

Junkin' Monday #13

Happy Monday, Ladies!

We still have some left overs from our Temecula extravaganza to share with you today!

How cute is this vintage clock???

Let us answer that: VERY CUTE!!
He will be our Dad's clock companion at Clara's house.
We can "see" a collection forming...Yeah! more hunting to do!!

The second treasure today has all the characteristics of a fave: rusty...

chippy....

white...

Perfect to hold silverware in a buffet table...
napkins will keep the silverware away from the rust!

Talking about irresistible rust...

another pretty for Clara to keep:

Metal base with glass top little table...little enough to be used as a pedestal on a big table.
Great display piece!

And finally a piece that really makes justice to the Junkin' tittle of this post...
A hoosier top that we found in a pile of junk

It was missing the sides, and the back needed some real help...
But, hey! nobody's perfect!

We added the sides and covered the bad back paint job using 1910 German catalog pages and added it to our Country Roads space.

Recycle, Redo and Reuse, that's the name of the game!

Would you like to play?
Add your link and share...it will be fun!!

Next Monday, November 30th, there will be no Junkin' Monday, sorry.
This whole week will be dedicated to shopping, cooking and spending family time in celebration of Thanksgiving Day so the Sisters will have no time for Junk!!

Junkin' Monday #12

We are back!

Friday was fun!!...we spent it with all the talented girls from La Maison Rustique in Temecula. The barn looked better than ever...the displays were over the top...(pictures coming soon) customers were happy and most of them walked away with treasures.

Of course we were not only satisfied sellers but also very happy customers...

Here are just some of our finds...

A very cute (to me) and very creepy (to Clara) composition doll head...(someone added a plastic body that will have to go, sorry dolly)

To be honest....she is a little creepy, but I couldn't resist her.
She was only $5.00 and she needed a good home...

Another thing we couldn't resist was this folding child's chair...red and chippy...old and sweet!!

A collection of 6 books...dated 1897...charming!!

Another clock face...we were looking for a big one this time and we found it: this one is about 12" round...and was only $3.00!

6 of the most amazing crystals we have even seen!
Talking about size...these vintage beauties measure 6" long each!...perfect canvas for some gorgeous ornaments!

We also found some vintage tulle, ribbon and lace...

Lots of vintage bottles to alter....

a shabby, peely mail box that we plan to use in a Christmas vignette...

And a lot more but you will have to wait a couple of days to see it all!

If you are wondering why we are shopping so much, come back tomorrow and we might have an explanation for you, but lets just say that our reason includes
a "road" to something new and hopefully wonderful!

But in the meantime...show us...what have you brought home this week?

Even Lil Creepy is curious!!
