Frugal Friday

This week all our projects have been fast and easy because we've been busy getting ready for the La Maison Rustique Sale...but we wanted to show you what we did with our Junkin' Monday finds...

Remember the $ 7.50 alabaster lamp?...it had no shade...

and the gold base was dated and ugly...

Simple fix!

I always wanted an alabaster lamp, but sold all the ones we have found through out the years...(they are good sellers...sometimes, $ talks!...LOL!)..now I have one!
The shade came from our favorite shopping place: our own garage....

The cheese or cheezy plate...whatever you want to call it, went from this:

to this...

a black paint job and a cute Fall tag helped making it into a nice vignette!

Thank you Wendy from The Shabby Nest for another Frugal Friday!
Don't forget to stop by on Monday to share your weekend treasures on
Junkin' Monday!

Frugal Friday and recycled post!

My house has these niches on the wall...one in the downstairs den

and another one in the master bathroom (before picture not available, but I promise it looked just as ugly!), over the toilette, that for some strange reason the builder thought people will like....
Sorry Mr. Builder, but those niches need help!

I added some fake bead board to the back wall, metal brackets and a shelf, to transform the bathroom niche into a cozy spot to display a pretty collection of vintage bottles...

an old mirrored door to make it look bigger,
an antique framed print...(love the aqua and yellow shade of the wall together!)

and of course, some necessities...

The project cost me under $30, that qualifies it for Frugal Friday...
Easy and inexpensive transformation with lots of cottage charm!
Now, I just have to tackle the one in the den....but first, I will visit all the Frugal Friday Participants at
The Shabby Nest!

AND BECAUSE WE LOVE TO RE-USE, WE ARE RECYCLING THIS POST FROM YESTERDAY AND LINKING IT TO:
MAKEOVER OPEN HOUSE
THANK YOU JEN FOR HOSTING!
(how's that for stretching?????)

Frugal Friday

Here's a perfect project for a Frugal Friday Party: an inexpensive and chic candle holder so easy to make that you can even have a couple ready for tonight's dinner...

An empty wine bottle (say yes! to recycling)...vintage music sheet for a graphic element, burlap and raffia for texture and shells for a summery touch...

...White candle wax adds romance...

How cool will a couple of these will be on your next gathering table?...
Let us respond: very cool!!!!!

And that's not all...
Once we were done with this project, we decided that the leftover music sheets were just too pretty to keep in a drawer and very deserving of also being displayed...
What do you think?....

Just an empty can of tomatoes filled with rolled sheets...looking good next to vintage silverware...

...and the cute label makes it very clear who this sweet display belongs to...

Now, before digging in your trash can and coming up with great display ideas, hurry up and visit all the creative minds participating in Wendy's Frugal Friday Party at "The Shabby Nest"

Have a great week end and come back soon, we love having you over!
XOXO
