Junkin' Monday #10

Good morning Sunshine!
It's time to tackle this week and what better way to do it than showing our new treasures?

It was a rather quiet hunting week, but enough to get our imagination going...
We were surprised of how much Christmas stuff there is out there!...to be honest we are not in "the spirit" yet...it seems early to us and since this year we don't have a store to decorate, we will stretch the Thanksgiving Season and hold on to our pumpkins a little bit longer.

But, with that said, we couldn't pass on this box of 12 ornaments for only $2.00!

We also brought home a silver plated "Bride's Basket"...

It's in pretty good condition and we love monograms so this was an easy decision.

We love vintage wicker trays, and this one is not exemption...

It's fairly large but I couldn't get a nice picture, sorry!

We just have to decide if we will add something pretty underneath the glass or leave it as it is.

Of course we had to buy a frame...we seem to always find a nice frame to adopt!..

Nice oldie, great patina...it was calling us!

And we couldn't finish our hunting without buying a project...
This old, wooden, (boring), box also made it home...

We know, nothing special, not even cute, but at $4.00 is perfect to try a new painting technique.
Later this week we will show what we make with it and let you decide:
boring box or keeper box?

Shadow Shot Sunday

A sunny Saturday afternoon,

an old screen door,

one of the few plants that survives my lack of gardening talent...

and that precious moment when we stop, look and capture shadows!

To sell or not to sell?

We have had this lamp base for some time now...

Vintage, white metal, great detail...but even though a lot of people liked it, it never sold.

We must admit that the lack of lampshade didn't help.
Since this week is all about finishing old projects, we decided to tackle this lovely piece and hopefully get it sold in just a few, simple steps!

First step: we looked for a lampshade in the garage...we focused in the shape and the size, no the print or the color!

Second step: We got rid of the old fabric and constructed a new shade using white cotton...

Third step: We added a strip of jute and finished it with vintage white buttons...

Our Fourth and last step will be price it, display it and hope that someone will like it now as much as we do!

White Wednesday

This White Wednesday post is all about finishing projects that have cluttered our garages and minds.
Waiting in the garage for have no idea how long, (actually...I do have an idea but refuse to admit it!) was this white metal chair.

How is that for a "mug shot"?
With just the perfect amount of rust and shabbic-ness all it needed was the seat. We constructed one by cutting some wood to fit and covering it with batting and burlap.

Because it reminded us of a bistro chair, we added a Paris-1883 design in the center of the comfy new seat...Now is ready to find a new home!

One project done...two more to go!!!

A watercolor my Son painted for me some time ago presented a "framing challenge"...it's an awkward size and I couldn't find any vintage or antique frames for it, of course, new frames were never considered.
The solution was to use an old window that had lost its glass panels...Cut to fit once again and voila...

Chippy, shabby white frame for one of my favorite pieces in the house!

Hey! We are doing great, projects are getting done...let's keep it up...!

A rescued-from-the-trash drop leaf table came home with me about 10 years ago.
Originally mahogany, was painted a beautiful periwinkle color to add a punch of color to our living room.
Some re-arrangement and a new sideboard later and my periwinkle table was moved to the family room.

Two coats of white paint helped me turn my once sofa table into a work table...

This is how it looks when the family is at home, you don't want to see it while I'm by myself, working...trust me!!
Over my work table, my other favorite piece: a picture done by my then six-year-old Daughter.

Well, this was a very productive week.
Thank you Kathleen for hosting White Wednesday once again...it was definitely what we needed to get inspired and finish some over due projects!

Junkin' Monday #9

Happy November!
Monday came very fast this week...so fast that we haven't uploaded our pictures yet!
We'll be back a little later, after sending the kids to school and Husbands to work to finish our post...

PART II:
We are back!...Kids off to school, Husbands off to work...time to pay, Yipee!!
Only one trip to the thrift store this week, but we are not complaining as we found some keepers..
A nice wooden frame, not old, but a great base to transform...even with just a coat of white paint is looking better!

A beautiful oil painting, wonderful warm, Autumn colors for only $6.00 became Clara's new addition to an ever growing collection...

A "Family" sign, at $0.99, Clara couldn't let it go...the aqua colors are made for her home...

A vintage silver plated tray, not in perfect condition...just like us!

but the wonderful piercing detail, the monogram and the $3.00 tag were too much to resist!

Our Thrift Store Field Trip was completed with an ironstone tureen...
No chips, no cracks...just adorable at $5.00!
Soup anyone???
